Alhamdulillah, masih lagi saya dapat berkongsi maklumat tentang rawatan kanser. Berikut ini adalah rawatan kemoterapi yang saya lalui.

Di Malaysia ubat ini akan disarungkan dengan beg berwarna ungu bagi membezakan ubat kemoterapi dan 'drip' biasa.

What is Chemotherapy?

Scientists are working from long time to find the solution of cancer. Cancer is of many types and due to so many types it’s difficult to find big solutions. Scientists have found some good treatments by which cancer can be eliminated from the body but it depends on the stage of cancer at which it is diagnosed. Cancer growth is an unbalanced growth of cells which can start at any part of the body. Normal cells grow at a decent and well controlled manner. Some important discoveries have made against breast cancer, lungs and colon cancer today. Chemotherapy is the most effective way of treatment these days against all cancer cells.

Chemotherapy is a combination of two words “Chemo” and “Therapy”. Chemo means Chemical and Therapy is a treatment so by combining the two, it can be called a “Chemical treatment”. It’s a way of treatment in which a combination of medicines used, to kill the cancer cells more rapidly than to any other form of single medicine. It is a combination of powerful drugs which can kill cancer cells at a high rate. In this therapy drugs are given by mouth, directly into the veins, into the muscles and directly under the skin. A patient needs to have this treatment 8-10 times or more as according to the stage of the cancer in the body. If a patient is diagnosed in the early stage than the cycle of the treatment can be less and vise versa.

Chemotherapy is anti-cancer multi drug combinations which controls and stops the multiplication of cancer cells so that the growth of the cancer cells can be controlled and they can be eliminated later.Chemotherapy can be different among different people depending upon some ones tumor size, hormones receptor, and physical appearance. Chemotherapy is not an enjoyable treatment and it’s very different to sustain as it affects the whole body. People don’t want it but as a last resort and because of its advantages against cancer. Chemotherapy, before surgery, effect twice, once to reduce the size of the tumor, and it also destroy cancer cells. After surgery, Chemotherapy works through blood flow to kill all cancer cells wherever these cells try to grow.

Cancer cells show the worst form of growth in the human body. They can grow at any point in the body and this growth is a total chaos. Cancer cells can spread at a high rate and if treated with any single medicine, there is a chance that they can break and spread to all body parts. Chemotherapy is the best treatment against this growth as it follows the cells and kills them in all parts of body. This action against cancer cells also kill some good cells in the human body parts like mouth, nose, nail, and vagina, because the good cells in these body parts are rapidly growing. Chemotherapy act against the growth of cancer cells and it also effects the growth of good cells in the body parts. This effect can be dangerous as it can stop the growth of the body.

 

Types of Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is a treatment of combined drugs and systems which can be adopt by several ways. It can apply to skin, provided by mouth, by injections into the veins and by injected medicines into muscles etc. There are several types of chemotherapy by which it treated the sick body. Some of its type are quiet effective and work at a good level.

1. Combined modality Chemotherapy is one type. It is a use of drugs with other forms of treatments like surgery, radiations and other therapies. The combination of drugs involved in this type of chemotherapy is different in respect of side effects and mechanism. This type of chemotherapy has an advantage that it minimizes the chances of resistance development.

2. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is another type. It is used to shrink the size of the tumor in the body so when another form of treatment like surgery applied to the body, the side effects of which can be minimized. Adjuvant chemotherapy is type of treatment in which the tumor size is very small but there is huge risk that it can spread and reoccur. This minimizes the risk of resistance development if any cancer cell appears in future.

3. Another type of chemotherapy is called Palliative chemotherapy. This type of chemotherapy is given without any kind of intent. It is used to increase the expected life time and to decrease the load of cancer cells. Plant Alkaloids are chemotherapy treatment in which plants are used in a great number. Periwinkle plant, Pacific yew tree (Taxus), May apple plants and Happy tree plant are some of the plants used in this type of chemotherapy.

4. Anti tumor Antibiotics are the chemotherapy which is made of natural products by the species of soil fungus called Streptomyces. The type of drugs involved in this chemotherapy acts in different stages of a cell. These stages are very much important for the cell to grow and become effective for the body operations. Doxorubicin, Mitoxantrone, and Plicamycin are some of its drugs.

5. Anti Metabolites are other types of chemotherapy treatments which are very similar to the cell natural operation. These drugs enter into the cell membrane and create a barrier in the nucleus so that cell cannot be divided. This stops the cell from any kind of growth. Topoisomerase Inhibitors are the types of chemotherapy which interfere with the enzymes like Topoisomerase which control the manipulation of DNA structure which is very much necessary for growth.  

There are so many other types of chemotherapy exist in the world today like Targeted therapy, Immunotherapy, Hormone therapy, and Miscellaneous Antineoplastics.  All type of chemotherapy is used after a check up of patient which is very important in order to find out that person is able to undergo chemotherapy due to its after effects. These all types of chemotherapy are used in different countries of the world today. Chinese use plant involving chemotherapy while people in western countries mostly go for a chemotherapy involving a combination of chemical and plant drugs.
